NES Newsletter – 08 November, 2014
In this week’s Newsletter:
Christmas Concert Tickets Now Available
Tickets for our Christmas concert are now on sale. These can be bought at rehearsal, by sending an email or calling the box office.
All the details are on the poster which is on the NES website and also attached to this newsletter.
Concert Poster: Let’s Get it Out There
In a bid to save paper, we have decided not to print out posters which might not get used. (Some will be printed and made available at rehearsals, but not as many as in the past.) We urge choir members to print out copies of the poster which is attached to this newsletter if possible, and distribute it to friends, family, colleagues, etc.
Please remember that to provide a slick, professional appearance, we need to be coordinated and consistent in our concert attire. This means black trousers and white shirts for men, with “NES blue” ties. For ladies, the look is a white, long sleeved, collared blouse and black trousers or skirt. Ladies in the front row need to have either trousers or a floor length skirt.
Carols at Birchlands
We have been invited back to sing at Birchlands Care Home in Englefield Green on Monday 15th December 6.30 – 7.30. Sign ups for this event will be available soon.
Scratch Messiah, Sunday 30th November, 7pm, Royal Albert Hall
There is a spare Soprano ticket for this. If anybody is interested this please email Fran
An email has also been sent out regarding payment for the return coach journey the cost for which is £12 per person. If you have not received this please see Fran or Theresa on Monday night. Prompt payment would be appreciated.
Please keep your raffle donations coming... we have our next raffle on November 17, which will be the last one before the Christmas break. Thanks to all of you whom have already made donations.
There will be a short EGM of the choir on Monday 08 November for the purpose of formally presenting and adopting our choir accounts for the year 2013-4. A copy of the accounts has been posted in the member’s area of our website for your consideration. The information contained is very similar to the financial update that was presented at the AGM in June with some small updates related to cash flow and auditor requested adjustments.
The final date for payment, meal choices and seating plans is Monday 10th November. Please check the website for the updated guest list and table numbers.
Knit ‘n’ Natter
The next NES Knit ‘n’ Natter club get together is on Wednesday 19 November, 19.30 at Marian Gouman’s house. Let her know or see her at choir if you’re interested in coming along.
NES is always on the lookout for new charities to support. We prefer our charities to be local to our community. This includes the community that you as a member live in – not just Egham and Staines. And they must be non-denominational and non-political. If you have a charity that you would like put forward for consideration, please contact our chairman, David Evans, either at rehearsal or at email@example.com
We are implementing a new process to hopefully make our newsletters even more wonderful and error-free. To this end, it is more important than ever that copy reaches the secretary no later than Wednesday evening. To submit an item to the NES weekly newsletter, please e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org with your article no later than Wednesday evening. Please include a contact e-mail address which can be included in your posting. If you would like your item repeated, please let the secretary know on a weekly basis. Only items directly related to NES can be published. Other notices can be posted on our notice board which is displayed every week at rehearsal.
